In 2006 The Fred Hollows Foundation South Africa commenced the first year of the 2006 – 2010 Eastern Cape Blindness Prevention Partnership Program.
It was also a year of change in South Africa as the organisation incorporated lessons from the growth of its activities in the Eastern Cape Province.
An organisational review conducted in September and October in 2006 identified options for structural change to enhance program management and outcomes.
The Annual General Meeting held in November 2006 mandated interim management and governance arrangements to implement these changes.
As well as these organisational and restructuring activities, clinical work is continuing at Frontier and St Elizabeth Hospitals - with outreach to Midlands, Empilisweni, Graaf Reinet and Butterworth.
