Current Activities

In collaboration with its partners, the National Insititue of Ophthalmology and Grameen Kalyan, The Fred Hollows Foundation is developing ways to successfully and sustainably implement eye care services in Bangladesh.

The Foundation’s current support for Grameen Kalyan focuses on funding mega eye clinics which both trains local eye health personnel and alleviates cataract blindness in the Tangail District and surrounding areas of Bangladesh.

The current relationship between The Foundation and Grameen Kaylan will continue through the provision of technical support, including the training of ophthalmologists and nurses at Tilganga Eye Centre in Nepal to conduct outreach services and eye clinics.

In partnership with the National Insitute of Ophthalmology, The Foundation has begun implementing the District Eye Care Program. The pilot project has commenced through training of eye care staff and provision of equipment and consumable supplies for both Brahmanbaria and Satkhira District Hospitals.
