We want to say a huge thank you to the 3,600 trekkers who took on the challenge of Sydney Coastrek on Friday 4th March.

It was a beautiful but hot day, and while the sun beat down on their backs, our trekkers walked 55km from Palm Beach to Balmoral, 50km from Coogee Beach to Balmoral, or 30km from Long Reef to Balmoral.

It wasn’t just a test of physical stamina, but a mental challenge as teams of four negotiated their pace and personalities over the ups-and-downs of the Sydney coastline.

Celebrating at the finish of the Sydney Coastrek
As the trekkers crossed the finish line, some enjoyed the cooling waters at Balmoral Beach and others dug in to a well-earned sausage sizzle or choc-protein shake.

But the biggest reward was knowing how many people will have their sight saved because of the hard work of the trekkers and the kindness of their family and friends.

The incredible effort of 900 teams has raised more than $2.5 million. This means The Foundation can train more medical staff, build more eye hospitals and provide the equipment that will help restore sight to thousands of people.

A special thank you to Di Westaway and the amazing team at Wild Women on Top who organise and run Coastrek each year. Their effort and enthusiasm is unwavering and unrivalled.

Fundraising is still open and if you’d like to support our trekkers and the work of The Foundation, please donate today and help us reach our goal of $3 million.
