Katrin O'Sullivan, General Counsel for The Fred Hollows Foundation, has been named Not-for-Profit Lawyer of the Year in the 2023 Association of Corporate Counsel Australian Corporate Lawyer Awards.

Recognised at a gala dinner held in Canberra, the awards honour leadership, excellence in the provision of legal services and the contributions made by in-house lawyers, whether in government, NFP or corporate legal departments.

An acknowledgement of their role as leaders, ethical guardians, legal advisors and innovative partners, the awards span 10 categories, covering a broad range of sectors and experience levels.

Katrin shared that while it was a lovely moment to be recognised, she could not have done it without the support of her amazing team at The Foundation, and the wonderful people she works with across the organisation.

"In my acceptance speech, I was pleased to share some of the incredible work we are doing in closing the gender gap in eye health and my gratitude to our amazing Founding Director Gabi Hollows," she said.

"Everyone was so impressed and interested to hear more about our work. I am sure it will help shine more good light on our great Foundation."

Foundation CEO Ian Wishart offered a "huge congratulations" to Katrin, recognising her win as a well-deserved achievement and commending her for recognising Gabi Hollows, and the organisation's drive to close the gender gap.

"Katrin's acknowledgement of Gabi's work speaks volumes to the way in which she represents The Foundation, and the inspiration she draws from its work in empowering women and girls, through eye health," Mr Wishart said.

Katrin was also a finalist in the In-House Lawyer of the Year category and, at the 2023 Lawyers Weekly Women in Law Awards held in Melbourne on 23 November 2023, was a finalist in the General Counsel of the Year and Not-for-Profit, Pro Bono or Community Legal Centre Lawyer of the Year categories.
