Specsavers has teamed up with multi-award winning artist and actress Christine Anu to launch Fred Hollows limited edition sunglasses, available in store now.

These are specs with a story behind them. The sunglass frames feature artwork painted by Indigenous artist, Langaliki Langeliki, whose sight was restored thanks to cataract surgery made possible by your support. As an artist, Langaliki’s eyes were everything; and when she could see again, she could paint again.

From this amazing story came our unique Specsavers partnership, now in its second year, in which Lankalki’s beautiful artwork features on limited edition frames. With $25 from the sale of each limited edition frame going to The Foundation, you can help to close the gap on eye health inequality between Indigenous and non-Indigenous Australians.

The funds raised will ensure that we can continue to treat eye conditions such as trachoma and work to end avoidable blindness for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people in remote and underserviced communities in Australia.

Christine Anu, who has a family history of eye health issues, knows the importance of looking after eye health and is passionate about the initiative.

“It costs as little as $25 in some countries for one person to receive sight restoring cataract surgery performed by The Foundation, so from every pair of sunglasses sold, one person’s eyesight can be saved. On top of this, the sunglasses are really special as they feature Indigenous artwork painted by an artist who has been personally touched by The Foundation,” Christine said.

The limited edition frames are available now, so head to your nearest Specsavers today and treat yourself to a stylish upgrade while helping end avoidable blindness. Head over to Specsavers to check out the design.
