The Fred Hollows Foundation is extremely saddened to learn of the passing of Jimmy Little.

Jimmy has been a long time ambassador of The Foundation and a tireless advocate for Indigenous health, particularly through his work with The Jimmy Little Foundation.

Gabi Hollows, Founding Director of The Fred Hollows Foundation, said today that "Jimmy was a great mate of the Indigenous activist community who knew Fred really well - and we miss him deeply".

Jimmy was a particular supporter of the Indigenous programs The Foundation runs in the Jawoyn communities in Australia’s Northern Territory.

The Fred Hollows Foundation has been involved with The Jimmy Little Foundation since 2009, through a program called Thumbs Up!

The Thumbs Up! project aims to increase awareness and encourage consumption of healthy foods through music workshops, concerts, cooking activities – and through branding healthy food in community stores with 'Uncle Jimmy's Thumbs Up!' approval labels.

Since the original pilot program, The Jimmy Little Foundation has expanded Thumbs Up! across the Northern Territory and into remote communities in South Australia, Queensland and Western Australia.

The Fred Hollows Foundation remains a proud supporter of Jimmy's Foundation, which will continue to help improve the nutritional health of Indigenous people living in remote regions of Australia.

Everyone at The Fred Hollows Foundation is thinking of our friends at The Jimmy Little Foundation - and in particular Jimmy's family at this very sad time.
