Join us in lobbying the Australian Government to reinstate funding for the care of 1,200 premature babies at risk of losing their sight in Pakistan .

We started this petition because the government is threatening to cut $1million worth of foreign aid. If these babies don’t receive specialised attention while in neonatal intensive care, the damage to their retinas means they could develop Retinopathy of Prematurity and become blind.

We’re urging the Honorable Steven Ciobo, Minister for International Development and the Pacific, to reinstate the funding so The Fred Hollows Foundation can continue its sight saving work in Pakistan.

If the Government’s $1 million funding cut goes ahead it will mean:
  • 1,200 premature babies miss out on care to reduce risk of blindness
  • 18,000 patients will not receive sight saving cataract  operations
  • 60 medical students will be stranded halfway through their training, unable to help restore sight in their local regions. More than half of the students are women from rural and remote areas of Pakistan.
There’s still time to stop these cuts, but we need your help.

Join us to help make a difference to the lives of thousands of people in Pakistan.
