Fred Hollows was a big believer in getting people involved in their own health care.

He supported Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Peoples having control and ownership of their health services.

"There must be active community involvement, using the community's own structures… and a real say in the direction of any activities," Fred said.

He believed that was vital to closing the gap in health outcomes.

What better way for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Peoples to have 'a real say' in policies and issues that affect them than a voice to Parliament?
