About The Humanity Award

Founder of The Fred Hollows Foundation Professor Fred Hollows dedicated his life to helping others to help themselves and restoring sight to some of the world’s poorest people.

I believe the basic attribute of mankind is to look after each other.
- Professor Fred Hollows, Founder of The Fred Hollows Foundation

The Humanity Award recognises Upper Primary students who follow in Fred’s footsteps by making a positive difference in the community. The Award celebrates students who:

  • Show compassion, integrity and kindness in their everyday lives
  • Take action to help people help themselves.

Since 2012, the Award has acknowledged more than 1800 primary school students in Australia and Hong Kong.

The inaugural Hong Kong awards were presented in 2019 – click and be inspired by our first Junior Ambassadors
