2018 Fred Hollows Humanity Award opens for application

The 2018 Humanity Award is now open for application by primary four to six students. Organized by global eye health organization The Fred Hollows Foundation, The Award is to celebrate students who are making a positive difference in their community.

Founder of The Foundation, Professor Fred Hollows, used to say that the greatest attribute of human kind was our ability to help one another. This Award recognises students who reflect this value in their daily lives.

The Humanity Award has recognised more than 1000 primary school students in Australia since 2012. In Australia 2017, we have awarded amazing students including the following:

  • Tilda Meggitt in New South Wales has always cared for others. She donated her hair to cancer patients, collected books for to Aboriginal children in Australia and clothes for children in Vanuatu.
  • Mary Nash in Queensland who volunteered in a homeless group. She organised collection of food in her school and sent them to the needy.
  • Kitean Aitken is a primary six student in Tasmania. He started a fundraising campaign for McGrath Foundation dedicated to helping breast cancer patients in Australia.

The Foundation is proud to bring this award to Hong Kong in 2018, with generous support from local celebrity Sammy Leung, and PizzaExpress and Faust International Youth Theatre for sponsoring the presents.

School principals and teachers are invited to nominate students who have taken action in the past year to help people. The Award will name 25 Student Ambassadors in April 2018.

Application details are now live on our website http://www.hollows.org/hk/fred-hollows-humanity-award-hk.
