A plan for action

The Foundation today launched a four-year plan to achieve ambitious results in Australia and overseas.

CEO Brian Doolan said the Strategic Framework 2011-2014 outlines four major objectives and the steps The Foundation must take to meet them.

“Fred dreamt of a world where no person is needlessly blind and Indigenous Australians exercise their right to good health,” Doolan says.

“We want to assist more people through more programs in more countries than ever before. This framework will help us achieve Fred’s vision.”

The Strategic Framework 2011-2014 outlines The Foundation’s intention to become a key global player in ending avoidable blindness by 2020.

A second objective is to achieve improvements in Indigenous health through partnerships with local Aboriginal health services.

Speaking out for the rights of people living with blindness and other disabling health conditions will also become increasingly important, both in Australia, and overseas.

“As The Foundation grows, intelligent and inclusive decision making and policies will be a priority – as befitting The Foundation’s leading role in international development,” Doolan says.

“To keep attracting the best staff, The Foundation will also take steps to advance as a vibrant, creative and energetic organisation.

“Our work is backed by a highly engaged Board and a talented, united operational team in Australia and overseas. Most importantly, we have the strong and continued support of our many members and donors.”
