The World Health Organization’s Western Pacific representatives have thrown their support behind a draft action plan to make eye health and avoidable blindness a higher priority.

Delegates at a conference in the Philippines say eye care needs to be a key part of any public health agenda.

More than 10 million people in the region are blind and up to 90 million suffer from visual impairment.
