In Cambodia, more than 90 per cent of blindness is avoidable and mainly due to cataract. Most cases can be treated with a simple 20-minute operation, but sadly many Cambodians can’t afford the operation or don’t know it’s available.

Restoring sight in Cambodia

Thanks to some great work with our partners, The Fred Hollows Foundation is making strong headway towards strengthening public facilities and their capacity to deliver sustainable eye health services.
Since our Cambodian operations began in 1998, the prevalence of avoidable blindness has dropped by 68 per cent. We’re proud to be undertaking groundbreaking work to embed basic eye health in the school curriculum, with over a million children reached so far.
