On October 27, 2016, HCP Co-Founder Dr. Sanduk Ruit was awarded and accepted an Asia Society 2016 Asia Game Changer Award at a ceremony held at the United Nations in New York City. These awards are bestowed annually to individuals, organisations, and movements that have inspired, enlightened, and shown true leadership in areas that reflect Asia Society’s core pillars of policy and business, arts and culture, and education. Dr. Ruit was recognized for “bringing the gift of sight, and productive life, to those most in need.”
 
 “We have developed a system to deliver sustainable and achievable eye care in Nepal. Now we are trying to be a part of the global community to see if we can make many parts of the world better.”
 
 Participation in 100&Change Competition Begins
The John D. and Catherine T. MacArthur Foundation launched a new competition on June 2, 2016 that will award a $100 million grant to a single proposal designed to help solve a critical problem affecting people, places, or the planet.
The 100&Change competition, was open to organizations working in any field of endeavour anywhere. Applicants were tasked to identify both the problem they are trying to solve, as well as their proposed solution, proposals were called to be meaningful, verifiable, durable, and feasible. With the support of its affiliated ophthalmologists and other experts, HCP submitted an ambitious proposal for the 100&Change competition.
