Research activities supported by The Foundation may incorporate commissioned primary research, applied/operational research, field surveys, case studies, literature reviews, systematic reviews, pilot testing and secondary analysis of existing datasets. The translation and dissemination of the research findings is integral to all of these activities. The Foundation does not generally fund or initiate clinical research, except studies that offer a direct translation for a broader public health benefit in terms of ending avoidable blindness.
