Why Workplace Giving matters
Right now, 9 out of 10 people who are blind don’t need to be.
Most live in low- and middle-income countries. The solution? Access to simple, affordable eye care. Together, we’ve restored sight to over 3 million people – and we’re not stopping there.
Through Workplace Giving, you’re helping change systems – not just symptoms. Your regular donation powers Fred’s legacy by:
- Training local eye doctors, nurses, and health workers
- Equipping clinics and hospitals with the tools they need
- Reaching remote and underserved communities
- Tackling gender and equity barriers in access to care
- Supporting long-term, government-led eye health systems
This is how we create lasting change – with you, and because of you.

The impact you make

Workplace Giving (also known as Payroll Giving) is a simple and tax-effective way for employees to donate regularly to causes they care about directly from their pre-tax salary. The donations are automatically deducted from your pay, making it easy to support global initiatives without any extra paperwork or effort.
When you sign up for Workplace Giving, you choose the amount you’d like to donate directly from your salary. The donation is automatically deducted each pay cycle, and you receive an immediate tax benefit. Some employers also match your donation, amplifying the impact of your contribution.
Signing up is simple! If your company already offers Workplace Giving, you can register through your company’s HR or payroll system. If you're unsure, ask your HR department for details. If your company doesn't offer the program, you can still support us through regular donations or by contacting us to learn more about setting up a giving initiative.
Workplace Giving makes it easy to contribute to global change. Your donations go directly towards sight-restoring programs, like training doctors, equipping clinics, and providing sustainable healthcare in low-income countries. Plus, it’s a tax-effective way to make a difference. With minimal effort, you can play a key role in ending avoidable blindness.
If Workplace Giving isn’t an option for you, there are still plenty of ways to support our mission. You can become a monthly giver by setting up an automatic donation through our website, or you can make a one-off donation whenever you’re able. Your support, whether ongoing or one-time, helps us plan long-term initiatives and provide consistent care to communities in need. Every donation, no matter the size or frequency, contributes to the fight to end avoidable blindness.
Many employers do offer a matching program to increase the impact of your donation. This means for every dollar you give, your employer will donate the same amount. Check with your HR department to see if your company offers this option.
Since donations are automatically deducted from your salary, you can track them through your payslip or your company’s HR portal. You’ll also receive an annual summary for tax purposes.
Every dollar you give helps provide vital eye care to those in need, including cataract surgeries, eye health training, and the building of long-term, sustainable systems. Even a small monthly donation can help change lives. For example, just $25 a month can provide critical care to those in remote communities who otherwise wouldn’t have access to sight-restoring treatment.
Yes, you can adjust the amount you donate at any time. Just contact your HR department to make any changes to your Workplace Giving contribution.
If you change employers, your Workplace Giving donations will stop. However, you can choose to set up a new donation plan with your new employer or continue your support through individual giving options.
