This is how you can restore sight
with a Facebook fundraiser

Matthew Perkins | 16 FEB 2021

Have you seen friends on Facebook fundraising for causes?

It’s called a Facebook Fundraiser, and it lets you call on friends to help achieve a fundraising target for a charity of your choice, with Facebook and PayPal Giving Fund waiving fees so all your donation makes its way to your cause.

So, how do you get fundraising for The Fred Hollows Foundation and rallying your friends around helping to restore sight?

Luckily, it's simple and it only takes a few clicks to create a Facebook Fundraiser; let's run through how to do it:

In a hurry?

Here's what we'll run through:

  1. CREATE A NEW FACEBOOK POST
  2. SELECT THE FRED HOLLOWS FOUNDATION AS YOUR CHARITY
  3. TELL PEOPLE WHY YOU WANT TO HELP RESTORE SIGHT
  4. START YOUR FUNDRAISER

1. Create a new Facebook post

Open Facebook whie logged in then click in the text box near the top that asks 'What's on your mind?'

Click the three dots at the bottom right hand side underneath your post

Click ‘Raise Money’ from the options

3. Tell people why you want to help restore sight

A personal connection always helps people see why they should get behind your fundraising efforts.

So, tell people why you support our sight-restoring work, and please feel free to tag us in your post too with an @FredHollows

Then encourage your friends and family to support your efforts.
