Blackwoods has been a proud partner of The Fred Hollows Foundation since 2008, reaching the milestone of $500,000 in total donations in 2016. We are able to provide such support by donating 10% of sales of Prosafe eye and face safety products as well as from the generosity of our employees through a voluntary workplace giving program and the generosity of strategic supply partners. Close Comfort and The Fred Hollows Foundation have partnered together since 2019.

Close Comfort is an Australian owned and operated start-up, offering innovative portable refrigerated air conditioning solutions.

Invented by University of WA Professor of Engineering,  James Trevelyan, the company’s vision is to provide affordable, sustainable and energy-efficient cooling globally. Its focus is especially on those people living in overheated climates and developing countries where the high cost and unreliability of access to electricity have historically been significant barriers to people benefiting from air conditioning in their homes and workplaces.

The Fred Hollows Foundation and Close Comfort share the belief that all people deserve the same quality of services, not only those living in the developed world. Through our partnership, Close Comfort is giving back to the communities where they operate, including Australia, Indonesia and Pakistan.

When I realised that hundreds of millions of people simply go without a sound sleep for months in summer, this project took on a special significance for me and my family. Customers of Travel Insurance Direct and World Nomads have collectively raised almost half a million dollars through micro-donations to fund The Foundation’s sight-restoring projects in places such as NepalCambodia and here in Australia.

The Footprints Network is an alliance of e-commerce business making a difference with a solution that supports community development programs around the world. By enabling customers of online businesses to make micro-donations to sustainable projects at the point of purchase.

HSBC is a major partner in The Fred Hollows Foundation’s #EndTrachomaNow campaign, supporting us in our efforts to eliminate trachoma in remote Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities.

The Fred Hollows Foundation has proudly partnered with TechnologyOne since 2017. The partnership is driven by TechnologyOne Foundation’s commitment to making a difference in the local and international community, by working with charity partners to empower disadvantaged youth.

The Brisbane-headquartered global business is working with The Fred Hollows Foundation to improve eye health for all Vietnamese primary and secondary school children through support of the Vietnam Eye Care Project. The program focuses on the development and adoption of national school eye screening guidelines.
