How one man’s childhood surgery led to partnering with The Fred Hollows Foundation.

The Fred Hollows Foundation is delighted to announce our partnership with The Electric Bicycle Company (TEBCO).

TEBCO is an Australian owned and operated business that manufactures, imports, distributes and retails electric bicycles and tricycles. Founded in 1995 in Victoria, TEBCO imported the first ‘commercial shipment’ of electric bicycles to Australia in 1999.

The team at TEBCO has followed Fred’s work for many years and have long been admirers of the work The Foundation does around the world. Fred’s work had a particular impact on Tony Morgan, TEBCO’s Managing Director.

“I cannot express strongly enough how precious the gift of sight is.”
  - Tony Morgan

Mr Morgan has a deep connection to The Foundation’s work and has experienced what it is like to be needlessly blind. At the age of 5 he had an operation to remove cataracts, wearing extremely thick glasses for the next 30 years, before having another surgery to repair his sight further.

To show their commitment to restoring sight, TEBCO has pledged to donate $25 to The Foundation for every bicycle or tricycle sold in Australia. This generous pledge will help continue Fred’s vision of restoring sight to those in need.

“Together we can not only entrench the Electric Bicycle industry into the mainstream day to day activities of all Australians but we can also restore the precious gift of sight to thousands of Australian and overseas children and adults,” Tony Morgan, Managing Director said.

Welcome to the team, TEBCO!
