End of financial year giving makes your donation count

rwanda-2025_blaise_redempta_960x960px.png

The EOFY deadline for a tax-deductible contribution is 30 June 2026. Donations made on or before that date are claimable in your 2025–26 tax return; contributions from 1 July 2026 onwards fall into the 2026–27 financial year.

To confirm whether your contribution qualifies as a tax-deductible gift, see our complete guide to tax-deductible giving in Australia.

Make your EOFY tax donation to The Fred Hollows Foundation before 30 June 2026.

Why Your End of Financial Year Charity Donation Matters

Right now, across the world, 9 out of 10 people living with blindness don’t have to be.

Many of the conditions causing preventable blindness — cataracts, trachoma, and others — can be treated with low-cost eye health procedures, interventions and medication. Unfortunately, millions lack access to quality eye care, resources or facilities. The loss of independence that comes with avoidable blindness reduces education opportunities and income potential, affecting whole families and communities.

When you support The Foundation with your EOFY tax donation, you are doing more than increasing your claimable deductions: you are helping to restore sight, independence and the ability to work and participate in community life.

Remember: it is the date of the transaction, not the date you lodge your return, that determines which financial year applies.

How Your EOFY Donation Helps End Avoidable Blindness

Your support allows us to train local doctors, build sustainable eye health systems, provide resources and fund sight-restoring surgeries in communities that need them most.

When you donate before 30 June, you are investing in our mission of ending avoidable blindness globally. Your tax-deductible donation means your kindness benefits both others and you this financial year.

  • For just $25, you can fund restored sight through surgery in many countries.

Whether you’re an individual, a family or a business — and whether you prefer a one-off or monthly contribution — EOFY is the best time to make your gift count.

Why Donate Before 30 June?

As a registered Deductible Gift Recipient (DGR), contributions to The Fred Hollows Foundation reduce your taxable income in the year you give. That means your generous gift can directly reduce the tax you owe while helping end avoidable blindness across the globe. If you want to make an impact, now is the right time.

EOFY Giving for Businesses

Businesses can also claim EOFY charitable donations, and corporate EOFY contributions support financial planning as well as corporate responsibility goals.

If you run a workplace giving program, a matched giving initiative, or want to make a lump-sum corporate contribution before 30 June, see our dedicated guide to workplace and corporate giving for how each is treated at tax time.

Frequently Asked Questions About EOFY Giving

Is my donation to The Foundation tax deductible?

Yes. Donations to The Fred Hollows Foundation are tax deductible under Australian law. For the full eligibility criteria, see our complete guide to tax-deductible giving in Australia.

When can I donate to claim it this financial year?

All charity donations must be completed before midnight Australian Eastern Standard Time on 30 June for them to be included in the current tax year.

Will I receive a receipt?

Yes. The Foundation sends an automatic tax receipt to your email address after every contribution. Keep this receipt, as you will need it when lodging your tax return. If you cannot locate your receipt, contact us directly to request a replacement before tax time.

Can I make a donation on behalf of my business?

Yes. Corporate donations can be claimed as EOFY business tax deductions. For the full detail on payroll giving, matched giving and corporate contributions, see our workplace and corporate giving guide.

How does my donation help end avoidable blindness?

When you make an end of financial year charity donation, your support funds sight-restoring surgery, medical training, and eye health infrastructure in the communities that need it most around the world.

If I donate by credit card or direct debit on 30 June, will it still count for this financial year?

Yes. The ATO uses the transaction date — not the bank clearance or settlement date — to determine which financial year your contribution belongs to. A credit card or direct debit donation initiated before midnight on 30 June is claimable in the 2025–26 return even if your bank doesn’t settle the transaction until early July.

Can I set up monthly donations?

Yes. Recurring monthly donations are easy to set up on The Foundation’s website and are also tax deductible.
