Corporate Match 2.0 is a world-first social giving initiative aimed at increasing corporate giving to the not-for-profit sector.

Partnering with The Fred Hollows Foundation, other not-for-profits, philanthropists, and the corporate community, Corporate Match 2.0 aims to amplify donations by matching new or increased corporate giving, dollar-for-dollar.

The Corporate Match 2.0 founding supporter is Vivienne Court Trading (“VivCourt”).
 

VivCourt is run by CEO and philanthropist Rob Keldoulis. Headquartered in Sydney, VivCourt is a global financial firm established in 2012 with a revolutionary business structure. Owned by a charitable trust instead of shareholders, it was established “to make money to make change” by supporting worthy causes and donates up to 100% of its net profit, generating millions of dollars in donations in recent years.

Mr Keldoulis said, “We want to see our dollars to not-for-profits amplified, and this project can turn each $1 from us into $2 to $3. The corporate community has the resource, influence and reach, even during these tough times, to have a huge impact. A little by a lot is the key.”

Steven Hirst, Managing Director of LAVA Communications explains, “The goal of this project is to increase giving. Matching donations is universally proven to motivate extra giving, but on occasion it can redirect donations from one cause to another. By matching positive initiatives and increases in giving, we can ensure there is more money in the not-for-profit sector.”

Corporate Match 2.0 has brought forward its launch due to the COVID-19 crisis which has severely impacted the charity sector. Mr Keldoulis explained, “Not-for-profits were already competing for a bigger share of the same pie. COVID-19 has now reduced that pie and many companies now have priorities around supporting staff and staying afloat. The limited companies that are still making money are in a very fortunate position to make a real impact during this global disaster.”

Corporate Match 2.0 intends to run several 100 trials with leading corporations, philanthropists and not-for-profits over the next two years to fine tune the model and ensure maximum impact long term.

The collective power of many

World Nomads is an organisation dedicated to raising funds for The Fred Hollows Foundation through micro-donations technology.

Founded by World Nomads Group, the Footprints Network facilitates thousands of micro-donations to support community development programs around the world. When you buy travel insurance through World Nomads or Travel Insurance Direct, you can choose to add a small donation to your policy to help fund our sight-restoring work. It's similar to traditional charity boxes found at retail counters, but in this case it works as an option to add a small amount to the bill. Collectively, these small donations make a huge difference to thousands of people living with avoidable blindness.

Since partnering with The Fred Hollows Foundation, Footprints has raised an astounding $715,000 to fight avoidable blindness in more than 25 countries around the world. This incredible model shows that everyone can make a difference, a few dollars at a time.

Supporting a good cause during a pandemic

In the space of only a few weeks, the COVID-19 virus changed reality as we knew it. Every corner of society has been affected by the pandemic, including the way we work, live, and interact with each other. This includes the giving and volunteering behaviours of businesses and individuals, which is putting charities at risk, just when they are needed most.

There are, however, still some quick and easy ways you can show your support for your favourite cause, without stretching your budget:

Focused on Reconciliation

APA is leading the way in reconciliation in its industry. It supports Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Peoples and their communities through quality partnerships, with organisations like The Fred Hollows Foundation.

The Foundation and its partners have made great progress on closing the gap in eye health between Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Australians and other Australians. In the 1980s, Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Peoples were 10 times more likely to go blind. In 2008, this was reduced to six times, and in 2016, reduced again to three times more likely to be blind. But there is still much more to be done.
