Our vision is simple but powerful: A world in which no person is needlessly blind or vision impaired. This vision is inspired by the legacy of our founder, renowned ophthalmologist Professor Fred Hollows, who believed that everyone, no matter where they live, should have access to high-quality, affordable eye care.
Working hand-in-hand with governments, global organisations, and local communities, we tackle the barriers to effective eye care and build stronger eye health systems. Our work has delivered remarkable impact in reducing blindness and vision loss, empowering individuals, and transforming communities worldwide.
What does being blind or visually impaired look like? It’s difficult to imagine unless you experience it for yourself, and we’d like to help you do just that.
At The Fred Hollows Foundation, partnerships are the heart of our work. We work with local partners to deliver sight-saving eye care. Our partners, mostly local and national governments, are essential in making eye care accessible and sustainable.
Discover how your support helps restore sight, strengthen communities and continue Fred Hollows’ vision of ending avoidable blindness worldwide.
