Cheques are being phased out in Australia

You can still donate by cheque to The Fred Hollows Foundation for now. However, Australian banks are gradually phasing out cheque services, so it’s a good time to consider other ways to donate.

What does this mean for you?

The Australian Government has announced a plan to phase out cheques, with changes happening in stages.

  • 30 June 2028: Financial institutions will stop issuing cheques.
  • 30 September 2029: Financial institutions will stop accepting cheques.

We’re happy to receive cheque donations while this service remains available. However, your bank may stop offering cheque services before these dates.

If you currently donate by cheque, you can switch to another payment method to continue supporting our work to end avoidable blindness.
