We have estimated that for every one dollar investing ending avoidable blindness it can bring four times economic benefits. Because of you, we are bringing positive change to our patients, the community and the world. Thank you, and here is what you have achieved last year:
 

In 2018 The Fred Hollows Foundation achieved globally:

  • 929,106 eye operations and treatments performed
  • 24M+ people treated with antibiotics for trachoma
  • 59,207 people trained, including surgeons, nurses, community health workers and teachers
  • 57,074 surgeons, nurses, community health workers and teachers trained
  • 9 medical facilities built, renovated or equipped
  • 1,017 medical facilities, training centres and schools equipped
  • 2.4M+ school children and community members educated in eye health and sanitation


East Asia 2018 results (Cambodia, China, Indonesia, Lao PDR, Philippines, Vietnam)
  • 1,879,410people screened
  • 545,337 eye operations and treatments performed
  • 65,858 pairs of glasses distributed
  • 10,598 people trained including 82 surgeons
  • 777,192 school children and community members educated in eye health
  • 10 medical facilities equipped
  • 3 training centres equipped

China office 2018 results 
  • 1,065,461 people screened
  • 424,427 eye operations and treatments performed
  • 47,054 pairs of glasses distributed
  • 3,304 people trained including 69 surgeons
  • 52,186 school children and community members educated in eye health
  • 5 medical facilities and 1 training facility equipped
