About the Monthly Donation Program

The Fred Hollows Foundation is driven by Fred’s vision to eliminate avoidable blindness around the world. We know the best way to do that is to work with our partners and empower local communities towards long-term, sustainable change. We know how to help, but there’s more work to be done. That’s why we need the help of our supporters to help fund programs such as eye operations, training surgeons and eye health workers, community education and other sustainable initiatives. The "Brighten Your Future" Monthly Donation Program will provide us with a stable income to continue our crucial sight-saving work around the world, changing the lives of those suffering from avoidable blindness.

Why Face-to-Face Fundraising?

Across the globe, face-to-face fundraising has been proven to be the most cost-effective and efficient form of fundraising. As a result of face-to-face fundraising, The Fred Hollows Foundation has been able to increase the number of eye operations being performed in the developing world from 50,000 in 2005 to 176,000 in 2008. As a leading Australian charity founded in 1992, The Fred Hollows Foundation has been running face-to-face fundraising in Australia since 2003.

In 2016, we launched face-to-face fundraising in Hong Kong and everyday our ambassadors connect with potential donors to share about The Foundation’s work and to inspire and encourage potential donors to give regularly to The Foundation, enabling us to help more people in the future. Moreover, our face-to-face fundraising ambassadors play an important role in reaching thousands of members of the public every day to spread awareness of the importance of eye health and to increase public understanding of avoidable blindness.

Meet our Face-to-Face Fundraising Team

Our ambassadors are readily identifiable in easy-to-recognize uniforms with their organisation and Social Welfare Department permits, ready to play a part in the mission to end avoidable blindness.

In order to ensure the highest level of customer service, our face-to-face ambassadors receive regular training on topics ranging from handling customer privacy to our eye health programs. If you would like to provide feedback on our face-to-face ambassadors or want more information, feel free to get in touch with us.

Lee Wan Yi, Wendy

Since joining The Foundation’s F2F fundraising team, I have used simple, sincere words to share our sight-saving work. Even when I face rejection, I remain passionate because I believe every genuine conversation can change a life—helping a child regain sight and return to school, a mother see again and care for her family, or an older person restore their sight and dignity.

I am grateful to be part of this meaningful work. Every day, I see how each act of kindness can become something real and tangible, joining with others to create the power to transform lives.

I hope more people will pause to hear our impact and join us in supporting The Foundation, so that more people in need can see again and move towards a brighter, more hopeful future.

I have been grateful for the opportunity to bring hope of restored sight to people living with eye disease through F2F fundraising. Knowing that our daily efforts may change someone’s life fills me with motivation and reminds me of the meaning behind this work. My heartfelt thanks go to every caring person who has supported The Fred Hollows Foundation. Each act of kindness not only brings hope to people in need, but also lets me feel the warmth and goodness in our world. I believe that when each of us gives a little, our support can come together to transform the lives of children and entire families in remote communities—giving them the chance to see the beauty of the world and move towards a brighter, happier future.

Since working with The Fred Hollows Foundation, members of the public have been my greatest motivation. I remember meeting someone who just had eye surgery and she described the feeling of helplessness before the surgery and how thankful she was after the surgery. She expressed her gratitude for the work that The Foundation is doing to help children with cataract. All these experiences are still vivid in my mind, empowering me to overcome any obstacle.

Since joining The Fred Hollows Foundation, I have come to understand that eliminating avoidable blindness is not only about restoring sight. It also enables people to return to work, earn an income, care for their families and regain control of their lives. I sincerely hope that more people affected by avoidable blindness can receive timely treatment. Whenever I imagine patients seeing the faces of their loved ones again and rediscovering their smiles and hope, I am reminded of how precious and meaningful this work is. My heartfelt thanks go to every donor who supports The Fred Hollows Foundation. With your support, we can train more eye health workers and give more patients the chance to see the world again. Every act of kindness and every effort is bringing light and lasting change to countless lives.

Through street fundraising with The Foundation, I can help more people in need. I carry the mission of eliminating avoidable blindness in my heart, hoping to ensure that more patients receive timely treatment and regain their sight.

When patients see again and regain their hope and smiles, I truly feel the meaning of this work. I am deeply grateful to every supporters—because of you, they are given a renewed chance at hope.

I hope our work can reach every corner of the world, bringing treatment and hope to more people in need. I also extend my highest respect to every eye care professional who dedicates themselves to restoring sight.

Ye Jiehao

Working as a F2F fundraiser for The Fred Hollows Foundation has deepened my appreciation of how precious sight is. Many people in remote communities live with eye disease simply because they lack resources and access to proper eye care. It deeply saddens me that some miss the chance for timely treatment and become permanently blind.

Street fundraising inevitably comes with challenges. Yet whenever I remember that our efforts can help people regain their sight, see their loved ones again, and rediscover the beauty of the world, every difficulty feels worthwhile.

My heartfelt thanks go to everyone who pauses to listen and support us. Every act of kindness can bring light and hope to people living in darkness, giving them the chance to begin a new chapter in life.

Since joining The Fred Hollows Foundation, every single day of this work fills my life with meaning. The kindness of every caring citizen gives me the strength to keep going.

Whenever I think about how my efforts can help more people in remote and underserved areas can receive eye care and treatment; or give more children the chance to see the beauty of this world , live with dignity, and enjoy a happier childhood and a brighter future, I feel even more motivated to give my best.

I am deeply grateful to every warm-hearted person who supports The Foundation. With hope for the future, I wish to keep supporting even more people, helping them escape the darkness of avoidable blindness.

Together, we can do this

We know how to help, but there’s a lot of work still to be done across the world. Eliminating avoidable blindness can be achieved – with the help of our partners and, most importantly, you, our incredible supporters.

The Fred Hollows Foundation's work will help build the local capacity of eye health in remote areas. Doctors, nurses and community eye care staff can identify, diagnose, refer and treat various eye diseases on time in the community.

The Fred Hollows Foundation believes that a fly-in-fly-out model is not the best way to develop a place’s eye health care. Our aim is to build a sustainable eye health workforce in remote areas to help people have their sight restored.

Thank you very much for your donation! Monthly donation receipts will be mailed to your mailing address every April. If you have any questions, please feel free to contact us.
