Book a talk with The Fred Hollows Foundation to learn more about the problem of avoidable blindness. Through real life stories, statistics and games, we share with students the work of a global NGO and help consolidate the value of social caring and global vision among students.

The Fred Hollows Foundation is an international development organisation, established by renowned ophthalmologist Professor Fred Hollows in 1992, aiming to end avoidable blindness.

Nine out of ten people who are blind don’t have to be. Restoring sight can change lives. The Foundation trains local doctors and health workers, builds and upgrades facilities, and provides equipment in order to achieve long-term sustainable eye health care.

We believe the basic attribute of mankind is to help each other.

Special talk: The undermined rights of women in eye care

Over 43 million people are blind worldwide. Women alone account for two-third of these and 90% of women who are blind live in poverty at the same time. Gender inequality, religious and cultural background are among some of the factors why women and girls are not getting the same right to eye care as men.
