Now in its fifth year, the trek aims to raise more than $2.5 million for The Foundation, restoring sight to 100,000 people around the world in the process.Teams of four trek 50 or 100 kilometres along the coast from Palm Beach to Coogee. Participants range from hard core athletes to those who prefer to adopt a more leisurely pace, stopping for coffee and enjoying the scenery along the way.

Four out of five people who are blind do not need to be. Each year Coastrek participants fundraise to restore sight and to continue Fred’s vision to end avoidable blindness. 

The event, which is managed by adventure fitness group Wild Women On Top, runs from Friday 28 February to Saturday 1 March. Each team must include at least two women.

The trek has mushroomed in popularity since it first began in 2009 when 45 teams raised $28,902 for The Foundation. In last year’s trek, over 500 teams participated and $1.8 million was raised for charity.

More than 700 teams are expected to take part next year, and the trek is usually booked out, so get your team together and start training to help make a difference the world can see.
