The Eye Ball 2010, being held in Melbourne next month, will raise money to support The Foundation's work to restore sight and improve the health and wellbeing of Indigenous Australians.

The gala event will give organisations and their guests the opportunity to come together with the common goal of making a difference to Indigenous Australians in remote communities who are living with cataract blindness, trachoma and other treatable eye conditions.

In many Indigenous communities across Australia, levels of poverty are comparable to those in some developing countries, with the life expectancy of Indigenous Australians being 10 years less than that of all Australians. The mortality rate of Australia's Indigenous infants is comparable to those of some developing countries.

The Foundation takes a comprehensive approach to improving the health and life opportunities of Indigenous people through a series of interrelated projects including eye health, community engagement and development, aural health, literacy, nutrition, woman's development, and training and skills development.

Our work with Indigenous communities is the legacy of the late Professor Fred Hollows and his ground-breaking work to improve Indigenous eye health through the National Trachoma and Eye Health Program.

It's a Breeze Foundation will host The Eye Ball 2010, joined by a group of like-minded individuals, small and medium sized businesses that have come together to make a difference to the lives and wellbeing of people less fortunate.
