The Fred Hollows Foundation is proud to invite schools to nominate Upper Primary students (P4-P6, or primary students aged 9-12) who are making a positive difference in their community.

Founder of our Foundation, Professor Fred Hollows, used to say that the greatest attribute of human kind was our ability to help one another. This Award recognises students who reflect this value in their own lives.

The Fred Hollows Humanity Award has recognised more than 1000 primary school students in Australia since 2012. The first Humanity Award was also held in Hong Kong in the school year 2018 which near 200 students were recognised.

What is the Fred Hollows Humanity Award?

The Award recognises Upper Primary students who make a positive difference in their community. It celebrates students who take action to show compassion, integrity and kindness in their everyday lives.

What are the award criteria?

Students should be able to demonstrate one positive action they have done to the community in the past one year. This should bring positive impacts to the society and demonstrate at least one of the following values upheld by our founder Professor Fred Hollows:

  • Action
  • Help people to help themselves
  • Show compassion, integrity and kindness in everyday lives
